Other Proteins

These products include Proteases, Immunoglobulin Superfamily CAMs, Toll-Like Receptors and other proteins not easily categorized into larger family groups.

Immunoglobulin Superfamily CAMs (cell adhesion molecules) are calcium-independent transmembrane glycoproteins that have several Ig-like motifs within their extracellular domain. These proteins will generally bind to integrins or other Ig superfamily CAM members. This superfamily includes ICAMs, VCAM-1, PECAM-1 and NCAM, among others.

Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) belong to a larger family of proteases called the Metzincin Superfamily. MMPs are zinc-dependent endopeptidases, generally secreted, that function to break down components of the extracellular matrix (ECM).

The Toll-Like Receptors (TLRs) recognized conserved structural motifs called pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). TLRs are type I transmembrane proteins expressed by a wide variety of cell types and play a key role in the innate immune response.
